Jose Ramirez’s agent sparks rumors with cryptic tweet amid extension talks
Cleveland Guardians fans cannot be happy about the latest tweet from Jose Ramirez’s agent.
Rafa Nieves, who represents the Guardians star Ramirez, sparked rumors on Thursday with a cryptic tweet. Nieves’ tweet simply read “LOL.”

The tweet comes just a day after The Athletic reported that Ramirez and the Guardians have traded proposals on a potential contract extension and are nearing a “critical point” in negotiations as Opening Day nears.
Nieves, the founder of Republik Sports, also represents MLB players like Toronto’s Teoscar Hernandez and Cincinnati’s Luis Castillo. But both of those players already reached agreements last week with their respective teams to avoid arbitration. Nieves has also spoken on Ramirez and negotiations with the Guardians in multiple other tweets lately.

Ramirez, the 29-year-old All-Star slugger, hit .266 with 36 home runs, 107 RBIs, and 27 stolen bases last year. He also finished sixth in AL MVP voting. For now, Ramirez is under contract for $12 million this season with a $14 club option for 2023. He was already the subject of trade rumors several months ago, and Nieves’ tweet is only adding to the uncertainty right now.
