Report: Keone Kela was suspended due to altercation with Pirates coach

Keone Kela drew a two-game internal suspension from the Pittsburgh Pirates this week, and now we have an idea of what exactly triggered it.

Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reported on Tuesday that the Pirates reliever was suspended for an altercation with coach Hector Morales, who officially serves as the team’s director of cultural readiness and peak performance coach.

Kela, 26, has a 4.63 ERA in 14 appearances for Pittsburgh this season. He was just activated from the 60-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation.

During his time with the Texas Rangers, Kela was once demoted to Triple-A for disciplinary reasons as well. He was also ejected from a game in April because of his role in a benches-clearing brawl.
