All-Star pitcher criticizes how Orlando Arcia comments became public

Atlanta Braves infielder Orlando Arcia’s Bryce Harper trash talk made for great theater in Game 3 of the National League Division Series, but one player is not happy that it became such a talking point.

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman voiced his concern on social media about private talk in the clubhouse becoming public fodder, calling it “ridiculous” that players should have to watch what they are saying in the privacy of their clubhouse while the media is present.

Gausman does have a point. Arcia’s remarks were not meant to be taken super seriously and were not meant to be heard by the public. On the other hand, Arcia had to know that reporters would be roaming around the clubhouse, and at that point it becomes fair game.

Whatever the case, the whole affair made for a pretty great moment of theater in Wednesday’s Game 3. On the whole, it’s probably good for the sport, even if it was bad for the Braves in this instance.
