LeBron James gets trolled by MLB team in funny social media post
It only took about 24 hours for LeBron James’ latest social media post to come back to bite him.
The Los Angeles Lakers star James made the announcement Wednesday that he was taking a break from social media. James reposted a message complaining about negativity in sports media and then wrote, “And with that said I’ll holla at y’all! Getting off social media for the time being. Y’all take care.”
That set up the perfect opportunity for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball. On Thursday, the news broke that Mets star shortstop Francisco Lindor had finished as the runner-up in the 2024 NL MVP race to Shohei Ohtani of the LA Dodgers. In response to the news, the Mets’ official X account copied James’ post word-for-word, even down to the emojis.

James plays in the same city as the Dodgers, who both eliminated the Mets from the playoffs this year and took the NL MVP award from them. Thus, that was a pretty nice touch by the Mets to clown on James there in light of his recent post.
You may recall too that James was known in the past to be a fan of a major Mets rival. It is safe to say that the Mets owed him one.
