LeBron James makes notable social media announcement
LeBron James appears to be activating Zero Dark Thirty-23 mode early this year.
The Los Angeles Lakers star made the announcement to X on Wednesday that he is taking a break from social media. James shared a post by sports industry figure Rich Kleiman, best known as the agent of Kevin Durant, complaining about constant “negative takes” by “some of National sports media.” James then posted his own message saying that he was “getting off social media for the time being.”
“And with that said I’ll holla at y’all!” James wrote. “Getting off social media for the time being. Y’all take care.”

With nearly 53 million followers on X and a whopping 159 million followers on Instagram, James is one of the most popular celebrities on social media. While he has taken sporadic breaks from being online for many years now, James usually reserves those for playoff time.
Set to turn 40 next month, James is averaging 23.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 9.4 assists per game this year in his 22nd NBA season. That has helped the Lakers get off to a 10-4 start (third in the Western Conference).
