Luis Severino has not yet made his 2019 debut as he continues to recover from an injury he suffered in spring training, but the New York Yankees ace is getting closer to making his return.
On Monday, Severino told reporters he expects to receive medical clearance this week and resume throwing.
Luis Severino says he will see the doctor today to get cleared to begin playing catch. He expects to throw flatground from just 60 feet today or tomorrow. Says he hasn't felt any pain in his shoulder/lat in about three weeks.

Severino also said he has not experienced any pain in his lat muscle for three weeks, which is obviously a positive sign.
The Yankees have won 11 of their last 13 games and are in first place in the AL East despite dealing with injuries to several key players, so the return of Severino will only make them stronger. They have been getting good news lately regarding those injuries, and the update from Severino is a continuation of that theme.
