Mariners make yet another embarrassing mistake on the bases
The Seattle Mariners ran themselves out of an inning for the second day in a row.
The Mariners were down 2-1 to the New York Yankees and had runners on the corners with nobody out in the bottom of the 10th inning at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Wa.
Julio Rodriguez was on third and Cal Raleigh on first with Randy Arozarena at the plate. Arozarena struck out on a 2-2 pitch, and he lost control of his bat while swinging at the ball. The bat went flying down towards third base where Rodriguez moved out of the way and drifted out of the basepath. He completely forgot that he needed to get back to the bag and was tagged out for a double play.
Arozarena strikes out, losing his bat and throwing it toward J-Rod; J-Rod avoids the bat but seemingly forgets that it is a still live ball. One of the crazier strike him out, throw him out double plays that you will ever see in a game that the #Mariners could not afford to lose. pic.twitter.com/7ZA5Lql9ho

The double play emptied the bases and brought Justin Turner to the plate as the final out. He struck out to end the game. The Yankees improved to 89-63 and clinched a playoff berth, while Seattle dropped to 77-75.
The mistake by Rodriguez came a day after Victor Robles committed a bad mistake on the bases.
