Masahiro Tanaka out ‘weeks’ due to hamstring injury
The New York Yankees got less than ideal news on pitcher Masahiro Tanaka on Saturday.
Tanaka was placed on the disabled list due to strains in both of his hamstrings, and manager Aaron Boone divulged that the pitcher would be out “weeks.”
Aaron Boone said that Masahiro Tanaka will miss “weeks,” but that it is “very possible” he returns before the All-Star break.

That sounds like an injury that will roughly take a month to recover from. Tanaka has won seven games for the Yankees this season with a 4.58 ERA, not quite up to his lofty standards, but not ineffective either. Still, it’s a tough pill for the Yankees to swallow, particularly since the injury came while he was running the bases, not pitching.
