Watch: Masahiro Tanaka injures hamstrings running bases

Masahiro Tanaka was forced to leave Friday’s game after sustaining an injury while running the bases.

During the sixth inning of the game between the New York Mets and New York Yankees, Tanaka scored on an Aaron Judge sacrifice fly after reaching first base on an error by Adrian Gonzalez. Tanaka appeared to injure himself while running from third base to home plate.

The Yankees pitcher did not return to the game due to stiffness in both hamstrings.

Prior to exiting the game, Tanaka allowed one hit and one run in five innings pitched. He also recorded eight strikeouts. Tanaka was replaced on the mound by Jonathan Holder
