There aren’t many things that can ruin a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning. With the Yankees and Rays tied 1-1 on Wednesday night, runners on the corners and two out, Rays outfielder Matt Joyce found a way. As you can see from the video above, Joyce hit what turned out to be a game-winning home run but fell like a ton of bricks on the swing. He then gingerly made his way around the bases.
“It was the worst and best feeling you can have in the span of a minute,” Joyce said after the game according to the Tampa Tribune.
I knew the phrase “no pain, no gain” made some sense, I just didn’t think it applied to the ninth inning of a baseball game.
