The New York Mets are, at the very least, still in contact with free agent pitcher Dallas Keuchel.
According to Andy Martino of SNY, the Mets are in “continued contact” with the left-hander. Team sources continue to insist that it is due diligence, but it is clear that the Mets are at least eyeing the possibility.
General manager Brodie Van Wagenen is instilling a merit-based culture at the Mets, and Martino feels that the team will not be hesitant to dispatch fifth starter Jason Vargas if they feel he is not doing the job and an upgrade is possible.
The Mets are definitely not the only team that has looked into the possibility of signing Keuchel. They are, however, being linked quite persistently.
