Mike Moustakas done for the year with torn right ACL
Defending a World Series title is difficult. Defending a World Series title when your All-Star third baseman is finished for the year is virtually impossible.
Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas is out for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee, manager Ned Yost confirmed on Thursday per Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com.

Moustakas, 27, was injured in Sunday’s 3-2 loss to the White Sox when he collided with teammate Alex Gordon trying to catch a foul ball. Gordon also suffered a broken bone in his right wrist as a result. Here is video of the play:
Moustakas was batting .240/.301/.500 with seven home runs and 13 RBIs on the year before going down. The Royals do have some of the better positional depth in the league. But at just 24-22 on the season so far, losing Gordon for a few weeks and Moustakas for the year is a major setback for a Kansas City team that has really struggled to find its rhythm in 2016.
