Report: Mike Napoli receiving interest from his former teams

Three of the teams that know Mike Napoli best reportedly want to bring him back into the fold.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, Napoli’s three most serious suitors are the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, and Texas Rangers. All three are clubs Napoli has played for in the past.

All three teams could have openings at first base for Napoli to fill. Cleveland had him in 2016, and would like to bring him back in the same role. Texas is likely to have a vacancy with Mitch Moreland likely to depart as a free agent. Boston, meanwhile, could turn Hanley Ramirez into a designated hitter to accomodate Napoli.

It probably says something that the teams most interested in Napoli are all very familiar with him. He’s a good power bat and a quality teammate. It probably helps that all three teams are contenders, too.
