Buck Showalter probably won’t be too happy to see this one.
Major League Baseball is apparently auctioning off a “game-used” playoff jersey of Baltimore Orioles closer Zach Britton from the 2016 AL Wild Card Game on their official website. The listing, which went up on Tuesday and continues through Sunday, already has 23 bids and is currently at $1050.
Of course, the phrase “game-used” is applied rather loosely here as Britton was infamously left on the bench in Baltimore’s 5-2 extra-inning loss to the Toronto Blue Jays despite firmly establishing himself during the season as one of the most elite relievers in baseball.
Hopefully whoever ends up with the winning bid will get more than their money’s worth through the subtle trolling of all their Orioles fan friends.
