Nationals reportedly pursuing deal with Greg Holland
Despite a horrendous stint with the St. Louis Cardinals, Greg Holland looks poised to join another would-be contender.
According to Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post, the Washington Nationals have entered into contract discussions with Holland, who cleared waivers and would be available on the cheap.
No agreement is in place, but the two sides are in discussions. Washington has previously had interest in Holland, who has a 7.92 ERA this season with 22 walks in 25 innings.
The Nationals will be hoping they can fix Holland for a stretch run. They’re in need of bullpen depth after trading Brandon Kintzler and releasing Shawn Kelly a week ago after a bizarre on-field incident. Adding Holland would represent a fairly low-risk and potentially high-reward move to fill at least one of those holes.
