New information has emerged about the status of the Pittsburgh Pirates fan who fell from the stands during Wednesday’s game at PNC Park.
The fan fell from the 21-foot Clemente Wall in right field during the seventh inning of Wednesday’s game between the Pirates and Chicago Cubs, and landed on the dirt warning track. The game was temporarily halted as the fan was treated and eventually carted off the field by medical personnel.
On Thursday, Pittsburgh Public Safety announced that the incident is being treated as an accident by law enforcement. The statement said the fan remains in critical condition, and police do not expect to provide any further public updates on the incident.

The identity of the fan has still not been shared publicly, and it is not clear if either the Pirates or the family of the individual plan to share any further details on the incident. Graphic video showed the frightening fall, which took place just after Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen hit a run-scoring double.
The Pirates went on to win the game 4-3.
