Noah Syndergaard is sorry about throwing so hard
Noah Syndergaard’s average fastball velocity was over 97 MPH in 2015, and he’s sorry about his role in the spike in hard-throwers – sort of.
It started when statistical analyst Daren Willman tweeted some numbers about the rise in 95 MPH pitches in 2015, which just so happens to be the year that Syndergaard made his debut.
% of total pitches 95 MPH+ in #MLB since 2008:
2015 9.14%
2014 6.87%
2013 6.36%
2012 5.59%
2011 5.18%
2010 5.45%
2009 5.44%
2008 4.82%

Syndergaard took notice of the tweet and gave a half-hearted apology.

Syndergaard isn’t entirely responsible for that uptick, of course, but his presence sure didn’t hurt. If Thor keeps tweeting like this, he’s only going to gain popularity.
