Bryce Harper got a little bit confused when introduced as a Philadelphia Phillie on Saturday, and a division rival is having some fun with it.
Harper accidentally said he wants to bring a title to D.C. when being introduced Saturday, a comment that the internet quickly seized on. So did New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard, who made use of it Sunday on Instagram.
The Mets think they can contend this year, so even if this is in fun, it’s a bit of pointed fun. There appear to be some very real rivalries in the loaded NL East, and the projected three-way race between the Mets, Phillies, and Washington Nationals should be a good one, especially if it keeps producing Instagram captions like this one.
