Jackson Holliday is headed back to the minors.

The Baltimore Orioles announced on Friday that they have optioned Holliday to Triple-A Norfolk.

Holliday made his major league debut against the Boston Red Sox on April 10. He did not record his first career hit until his fourth game on April 14, and that would be only one of two hits for him before he was sent back to Triple-A.

In total, Holliday went just 2-for-34 in 10 games with 5 runs scored. He struck out a whopping 18 times and walked twice.

Fans were surprised when the Orioles left Holliday off their MLB roster at the start of the season. Even some players were openly irked by the decision. The 20-year-old then blasted a monster home run in his first at-bat of the year and easily handled Triple-A pitching, posting a .342/.490/.605 slash line over nine games.

The last thing the Orioles want is for the 20-year-old Holliday to lose confidence, which is why they have sent him back down. Holliday could be recalled later in the year if he hits as well in his second Triple-A stint as he did in his first.
