The San Diego Padres certainly know their culture.
The Padres officially advanced to the NLDS on Wednesday with a 5-4 win over the Atlanta Braves. The victory now sets up a playoff showdown against the division foe Los Angeles Dodgers for the third time in the last five years.
Amid their win over Atlanta, the Padres had an absolutely perfect post to their official X page.

“But as fate would have it, that Atlanta magic got put out by them Padres,” they wrote.

That is a quote of a famous song lyric by country star Morgan Wallen. In his 2023 song entitled “’98 Braves,” Wallen sings about how the Padres upset the 106-win Braves back in 1998 and uses that exact lyric to tell the story.
Fittingly enough, this was the very first time that the Braves and Padres met each other in the playoffs ever since that fateful matchup in 1998. Though the Padres, as the higher Wild Card seed, were the favored team this time around, the result was ultimately the same.
Wallen had already made his way into the sports world earlier this year. Now the Padres are using Wallen’s lyrics as a victory lap before they move into what should be a much tougher series against the Dodgers.
