Paul Skenes came up on the short end in his hyped battle with Jacob Misiorowski on Wednesday.

Skenes’ Pittsburgh Pirates visited Misiorowski’s Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field in Milwaukee. Fans were excited to see the matchup between two of the hardest-throwing pitchers in MLB. There was a sellout, and the 42,774 fans was the largest attendance at the stadium this season.

As expected, today's Brewers game is a sellout.

Total attendance: 42,774

While this is the fifth sellout, this is the largest attendance at American Family Field this season. Not bad for a midday Wednesday afternoon. #Brewers

Brewers fans were left pleased with how the game started. Skenes was knocked out of the game early after allowing four runs on four hits and two walks over four innings. He gave up all four of the hits and runs in the second inning after getting into trouble early by loading the bases with nobody out.

Skenes had thrown 78 pitches (50 strikes) in his four innings before being pulled. In contrast, Misiorowski allowed just two hits and two walks over his five innings of work. He struck out 8 and threw 74 pitches (50 strikes) as he exited with a 4-0 lead. The two hard-throwing pitchers combined to make just the 7th game in the pitch-tracking era where both starting pitchers were clocked at 100 mph.

This is the 7th game in the pitch-tracking era (2008, incl ps) where both starting pitchers threw at least 1 pitch at 100.0+ mph, joining:

6/15/25 Dylan Cease (3), Shohei Ohtani (1)
8/7/22 Jacob deGrom (7), Spencer Strider (1)
2020 ALDS G5 Tyler Glasnow (2), Gerrit Cole (1)… https://t.co/qlH0gbsKYF

Misiorowski has now only allowed three hits total over his first three starts in the bigs. He lowered his ERA to 1.13.

Here is a look at the final run the Brewers scored off Skenes — it came on an opposite field single by Christian Yelich.

Despite being knocked out early, Skenes still has a sparkling ERA of 2.12 this season.
