Paul Skenes seems to have it all. He has a 100-mph fastball. He’s arguably the best pitcher in the world. And he’s dating Livvy Dunne. But he nearly blew it with the last part.
Skenes and Dunne were featured in a photoshoot and story by GQ that were published on Wednesday. In the story, they told the writer about how their relationship came to be.
Livvy, who is a gymnast at LSU, apparently had her eye on Skenes, who was an ace pitcher for the school’s baseball team. Dunne even seemed to initiate by following him on Instagram. However, he never followed her back, which impeded his ability to connect with Dunne, and may have also given her the wrong signal.
Skenes not following Dunne back on Instagram wasn’t because he had an issue with her, but rather due to him not being on social media much in order to focus on baseball. Eventually the two were able to get together thanks to a connection from mutual friends, and now their relationship goes strong even despite their hectic schedules featuring plenty of travel.
Though Skenes eventually got the hint to ask out Dunne, he may have been a little slow with it at first. In the end, the two found each other, though Dunne gets credit for making the first move.
Now Dunne can add a GQ appearance to her growing list of recent publicity, which also includes another SI Swimsuit appearance.
