Pete Alonso reveals he was involved in ‘brutal’ car crash
New York Mets star Pete Alonso was involved in a frightening car accident over the weekend.
Alonso told reporters at spring training on Monday that he was involved in a “brutal” car crash the day before in Tampa. The slugger says his car flipped over multiple times after he was T-boned by a driver who ran a red light. He had to kick the glass out of his window to get out. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
Pete Alonso said he was in an accident yesterday (he said he was T-boned by a car that ran a red light, his car flipped over 3 times & he kicked open his window) but he & everyone else is safe. “I'm just really thankful to be alive … Thank you Ford for having great engineering.”

Given the way Alonso described the accident, it’s incredible that no one was hurt. The result obviously could have been much worse. Alonso said he expects to be back on the field on Tuesday.
Alonso’s accident sounds similar to the one an NFL player was involved in last summer. He, too, came away relatively unharmed.
Alonso is entering his fourth major league season with the Mets. He batted .262 with 37 homers and 94 RBI last year.
