Phil Kenner claims Ken Jowdy supplied Roger Clemens with PEDs

When most people think of Roger Clemens and his legal battles regarding alleged steroid use, the first name that comes to mind is that of former personal trainer Brian McNamee. McNamee claims he injected Clemens with performance-enhancing drugs, but who supplied them?

Phil Kenner, an alleged con man who has been accused of stealing money from NHL players, claims he knows the answer to that question.

Kenner, who took the stand earlier this month to defend himself against charges of wire fraud, conspiracy and money laundering, told FBI investigators in 2011 that Cabo San Lucas golf resort managing partner Ken Jowdy supplied Clemens with PEDs. Jowdy’s name is at the center of the investigation into Kenner and his former business partner Tommy Constantine.

“I recall being contacted by two FBI agents with respect to the Roger Clemens investigations and the Sen. Mitchell hearings, and part and parcel to their investigation they informed me they wanted to know about the relationship with Roger Clemens, Mr. Jowdy providing drugs to him and their collective relationship with (trainer) Brian McNamee, who testified in front of Congress,” Kenner told Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Miskiewicz during his trial, according to the New York Daily News.

Jowdy and Clemens were known to be friends, though this is the first anyone has heard about Jowdy allegedly being involved with Clemens’ steroid scandal.

More than a dozen current and former hockey players claim Kenner and Constantine took money from them under the presumption that it would be used for real estate investments and other business ventures but that it was instead blown on wild parties for Clemens and other MLB stars.

The NY Daily News has more detail on Kenner and his associates, but the link to Clemens is certainly interesting. Unlike Roger’s former teammate, steroid-use allegations against Clemens have always been fairly muddled. We’re not sure if this brings any additional clarity.
