Phillies fan wears great shirt to game in London
One Philadelphia Phillies fan’s shirt amused the internet on Saturday during his team’s MLB World Tour contest against the New York Mets held at London Stadium in London, England.
The Phillies beat the Mets 7-2 in the first of two games as part of the “MLB World Tour: London Series.”
The fan went viral on X for his shirt, which made fun of Britain for losing control of its American colonies centuries ago. The shirt’s colonial trash talk was hilariously coded in sports lingo.
“The British blew a thirteen colony lead,” the shirt read.

Pennsylvania and New York were both among the thirteen British colonies that declared independence from Britain in 1776.
The shirt was putting a sports spin on things by talking about a blown lead.
George Washington, who led the American comeback revolution, was arguably the LeBron of his time.
Perhaps Mike Breen’s 18th century ancestors also yelled emphatically when Washington blocked the British off the proverbial backboard like James did.
