Seattle Mariners teammates Randy Arozarena and Cal Raleigh have settled their strange World Baseball Classic beef.

Arozarena issued a statement Saturday saying he apologized to Raleigh for comments he made after Raleigh refused to greet him prior to a plate appearance during the WBC. Arozarena said after the game Raleigh could “go to hell” for refusing his greeting.

“I understand that with Opening Day a few days away, I don’t want it to be a distraction,” Arozarena said in a statement. “Cal and I have talked and I apologized for what I said after the game. Nothing in the WBC takes away from the fact that we are brothers and teammates. He’s family, and we are both focused on helping the Mariners win the World Series.”

Raleigh also said whatever issues the two had were in the past.

“We talked it out, and everything went great,” Raleigh said, via Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. “Randy knows that I love him, and he’s a brother, and it’s in the past and none of us are carrying this forward. We’re in a good spot. We talked it out. We were both sorry, and we both got in a good place and we’re both happy to be here, too.”

Raleigh downplayed the incident from the start, but Arozarena seemed reluctant to let it go based on a previous statement he released. The Mariners certainly would have wanted to eliminate this as a possible distraction given that they have championship aspirations this season, and both players will be vital to achieving those.

Arozarena hit 27 home runs for the Mariners last season, while Raleigh hit 60 home runs and finished as runner-up in AL MVP voting.
