Rockies, Mets in bench-clearing incident after Ian Desmond hit
The Colorado Rockies and New York Mets were in a bench-clearing incident on Friday after Ian Desmond was hit by a pitch.
David Dahl hit a 2-run home run and two batters later Daniel Murphy slugged a solo shot to put the Rockies up 5-1 on the Mets in the top of the eighth inning.
Desmond was the next batter up, and reliever Drew Gagnon went inside on him twice, hitting him with the third pitch. Desmond took exception and was talking with Gagnon. Players ran out of their dugouts onto the field to address things.

Nothing more than people clearing out of the dugout happened and nobody was ejected from the game. It’s hard to say whether Gagnon was throwing at Desmond or just threw an inaccurate pitch. The umpires did not think it was on purpose otherwise they would have ejected him.
