Ron Washington is not managing the Los Angeles Angels for the time being due to a health issue, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to deprive himself of some delicious food while he’s out.
Washington did not manage the Angels during the team’s game against the Houston Astros at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., on Friday night. However, he was at the stadium and watching the game from one of the suites. He was even shown on TV enjoying some chicken during the game.

There was one critic asking whether Washington should be eating chicken while dealing with a health issue. Obviously that’s not a concern.
Angels general manager Perry Minasian spoke with the media on Friday about the decision not to have Washington manage due to the health issue. He said some things are “bigger than baseball,” which includes Washington’s health. Though Washington wants to manage, Minasian is hoping to reduce some stress for the manager.
“We play some close games every night, right? They’re not the type of games you can sit back, kick up your feet and watch. They’re pretty tight and stressful games, and I want to make sure he’s good to go health-wise before he gets back in there,” Minasian said.
Bench coach Ray Montgomery is serving as the Angels’ interim manager while Washington is out.
