Report: Royals making nearly entire roster available for trade

The Kansas City Royals are in the middle of an extended rebuilding process, and they’re ready to take what they can get for some of the players on their roster.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Royals are making everyone on their roster available with the exception of young standouts Adalberto Mondesi and Hunter Dozier, who are essentially untouchable.

The list of available players is led by talented infielder Whit Merrifield, who is on a team-friendly contract through 2023. Jorge Soler, Alex Gordon, Ian Kennedy, and Danny Duffy are also listed as being potentially valuable trade chips.

This won’t do much for Kansas City’s dwindling crowds, but at 19-38 and with no improvement in sight, there’s no reason for them not to explore every option available to them. That may well involve trading some talented and, in some cases, long-tenured players.
