Report: Royals re-sign Alex Gordon

In what qualifies as a surprise, the Kansas City Royals have reportedly re-signed left fielder Alex Gordon to a four year deal.

The pact is reportedly worth $72 million, according to Jon Heyman, which comes out to about $18 million per year.

Gordon hit .271 with a .377 on-base percentage in 2015, paired with his usual outstanding defense. He was a vital cog in Kansas City’s World Series championship.

It was previously thought that Gordon was on his way out the door. As recently as two weeks ago, there was reportedly little chance of him returning due to a sizable gap between the two sides as far as money goes. The parties appear to have found a compromise, though, and it helped that other teams were reportedly even less likely to give him what he wanted. In the end, Gordon seems to have found a good solution for player and team alike.
