A Savannah Bananas player has learned the hard way that doing a backflip on a baseball field is not the same as attempting the feat in a television studio.

Bananas outfielder RobertAnthony Cruz was a guest during a segment of “CNN News Central” on Thursday morning. Cruz and other Bananas players are known for pulling off amazing stunts like backflips while catching fly balls, and Cruz attempted to showcase some of that athleticism for viewers.

It did not go well.

Cruz’s feet slipped out from underneath him and he faceplanted.

One of the show’s hosts could be heard saying “oh, Jesus” as Cruz started the flip, and that was before she knew it was going to go poorly.

We have to assume that was not intentional from Cruz. He was supposed to return after a commercial break for more of the segment but did not. The host said that he was “doing well,” though.

Cruz and the Bananas have had some jaw-dropping moments on the field, but that will probably be the last time one of them attempts a backflip in a TV studio.
