The Braves southpaw got Logan Forsythe and Cody Bellinger out to start the inning before losing Taylor on the 2-2 pitch. He was immediately replaced by Dan Winkler, who allowed Taylor to score before closing out the 4-1 win.
Newcomb’s final line was one earned run on one hit and one walk over 8.2 innings with eight strikeouts. It was one of the finest starts of the season.
Newcomb has been awesome all season and is now 10-5 with a 3.23 ERA.
