St. Paul Saints to Give Out Tweeting Weiner Boxer Shorts (Picture)

For those of you who were not aware, July 23 is known as National Hot Dog Day. What better way to celebrate National Hot Dog day than to eat some frankfurters and have a few laughs of the expense of U.S. Representative Anthony Wiener? The St. Paul Saints, an independent baseball team that is known for light-hearted giveaways like the Michael Vick dog chew toy back in 2008, plans on doing just that next month. More specifically, the Saints will be giving out Tweeting Weiner boxer shorts to the first 1,501 fans in attendance age 18 and over. Here’s a picture of the logo on the undies, courtesy of Darren Rovell’s Twitter:

It gets better.  Fans can also tweet pictures of their best-looking wieners (the hot dog variety) to @StPaulSaints up until the day of the event.  During the game on July 23, Saints Master of Ceremonies Joe Weiner — yes, that is seriously his name — will be tweeting out pictures of wieners from the third base dugout and two lucky fans will have a chance to win round trip ticket’s to next year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4.

Greatest fan giveaway and contest in the history of sports?  It certainly beats the Sam Fuld capes in Tampa.  It pains me to say it, but the Saints might actually have surpassed the L.A. Angels for best fan giveaways with their latest idea.  Come on — Tweeting Wiener boxer shorts?  Bravo, Saints marketing department.  Bravo.
