Steve Cohen looks on

Steve Cohen provided a masterclass in unintentional comedy this week.

The New York Mets owner Cohen posted to X on Friday about how he was excited for the team’s upcoming 10-game homestand.

“Looking forward to our 10 game homestand starting tonight,” wrote Cohen. “LGM [Let’s Go Mets]. We are experimenting with our new artist series giveaway tomorrow. Enjoy the Joel Mesler created totebag. Feedback appreciated.”

Unfortunately for Cohen though, his excitement quickly turned into dismay as the Mets went on to lose that night in truly horrendous fashion. The team embarrassingly blew a 6-2 lead with two outs in the eighth inning to the San Francisco Giants and went on to fall by an 8-7 final score.

“What a stretch, mind boggling,” Cohen wrote in a post after the game. “I know how disheartening this is for our fans. Ty for caring so much.”

The set of back-to-back posts by Cohen quickly created a hilariously sad visual that went viral online.

That definitely sums up the New York Mets experience this season pretty well. They are now 21-29 on the year and continued to humiliate themselves during the next day’s game against the Giants too.

As for Cohen, it could always be worse. At least he didn’t leak his team’s trade deadline plans to X like he did the last time.
