Gore carved out an eight-year MLB career for himself largely because of his speed. He was consistently one of the fastest players in the sport, and multiple playoff teams kept him on the roster just for his base-stealing ability in key spots. He was part of the Kansas City Royals’ 2015 World Series team and also made a postseason appearance for the Atlanta Braves when they won in 2021.

Gore only had 85 career plate appearances in the regular season, but he stole 43 bases. He also stole five bases in 11 postseason appearances. He was particularly essential to the 2014 Royals, with three steals in six appearances as the team lost the World Series in seven games.

The Royals paid tribute to Gore on social media. He is best remembered for his time with the organization, as he played five of his eight MLB seasons with Kansas City.
