Tigers gave owners a champagne bath to celebrate playoff berth
The Detroit Tigers on Friday clinched their first postseason berth since 2014, and the team included owner Chris Ilitch in their celebration.
Detroit beat the Chicago White Sox 4-1, while the Minnesota Twins lost 7-2 to the Baltimore Orioles. The Twins’ magic number entering Friday was one, so either outcome would have sent them to the postseason.
In their clubhouse, Riley Greene brought owner Ilitch over with the group and gave him a champagne bath.

Ilitch was bouncing up and down as the players sprayed some bubbly on him. All parties seemed to be having a great time.
Few people could have seen this coming. The Tigers were 52-57 entering August, but they closed the season strong. Entering Saturday, they had won 10 of 11 games to earn a playoff spot.
Ilitch and the rest of Detroit are celebrating accordingly.
