Report: Tigers in serious talks with Jordan Zimmermann
The Detroit Tigers are reportedly in serious talks with free agent pitcher Jordan Zimmermann.
The talks have grown serious, according to Jon Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
The 29-year-old right hander has spent his entire career with the Washington Nationals, where he has twice finished in the top ten of NL Cy Young voting and been named to a pair of All-Star teams.
The Tigers have interest in adding a pair of starting pitchers this offseason, and Zimmermann would represent the first. Detroit is coming off a last place finish, and their pitching was a huge reason as to why. Zimmermann would go a long way toward helping them field a contending team again in 2016.
No deal is done, however, and the Tigers could still face competition from the Dodgers, among other teams.
