Trevor Bauer trolls Lance McCullers before Indians-Astros series
Trevor Bauer continues to give the Houston Astros the business.
Before the Astros hosted Bauer and his Cleveland Indians for a weekend series beginning Friday, the pitcher picked a clever way to troll Astros counterpart Lance McCullers. For the last two months or so, Bauer has been engaged in a charitable campaign called “The 69 Days of Giving” where he is donating money to a different charity every day. Days 1-68 will see Bauer donate $420.69 and Day 69 will see that number rise to $69,420.69 (seriously).

Friday marked the 51st day of Bauer’s campaign, and he decided to send his daily donation to McCullers’ self-titled foundation, which promotes pet adoptions and shelter awareness. What was particularly clever about Bauer’s announcement was his reference to “get[ting] pets out of sticky situations.”
Donation 51/69 goes to The @LMcCullers43 Foundation. It aims to get pets out of sticky situations by promoting pet adoptions, raising awareness for shelters and programs, and continuing the journey to a no-kill world. Tell me about your charity. https://t.co/PSouuufsQ3 pic.twitter.com/WsKwmXZ58B

For context, Bauer recently had a back-and-forth with McCullers and the Astros after hinting that Houston’s pitchers might be doctoring the baseball. He seemed to infer they might be using pine tar, hence the “sticky” adjective. As for this latest dig, McCullers had this to say to Bauer in response:
Tyler, thanks for the exposure. Also, we will be re donating your funds to another local Houston charity, since you love us so much! Tag your charity below. https://t.co/hKZAyev9o4

Unfortunately, Bauer just started on Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers, so he will not be pitching this weekend against McCullers (who starts against the Indians on Sunday) or the rest of the Astros. Still, the 27-year-old should be applauded for the most wholesome troll job we have seen in awhile.
