Trevor Story hits two more home runs, sets more records
Trevor Story is quickly becoming the best story of the Major League Baseball season.
A rookie shortstop out of Irving, Texas, Story homered twice in the Colorado Rockies’ 13-6 loss to the San Diego Padres on Friday. The multi-homer game helped Story make history in two ways.
– He became the first player to homer in his first four career games
– He became the fastest to hit six homers to start a career
In addition to his multi-homer game Friday, Story homered twice in Colorado’s opener. Six of his seven hits this season have been long balls.
Though keeping up with the every hit goes for a home run pace will prove to be challenging for Story, his history indicates the power is not a fluke.
Story hit 70 home runs over five seasons in the minors, including 20 between two levels last season. That’s not bad for a player who just turned 23 years old.
Story is doing a nice job of making the Rockies forget about Jose Reyes and Troy Tulowitzki so far.
