Anthony Volpe’s father added his own entry to the Subway Series rivalry over the weekend.
Michael Volpe, the father of the New York Yankees shortstop Anthony, was seen on video getting profane with a New York Mets fan during a game at Citi Field in Queens, N.Y. Video circulated on TikTok showing the incident.
In the video, Michael became unhappy with a Mets fan sitting a couple of rows below him who had apparently been talking smack about Anthony. Michael could be heard dropping multiple F-bombs in the clip, even giving a loud “F–k you!” to the Mets fan at one point and calling him out for “badmouthing my son.”

The clip went viral on Sunday, but it is unclear which of the three weekend games between the Yankees and the Mets the video was filmed during. The two rivals played on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with the Mets taking the first two contests but the Yankees avoiding the sweep with a 6-4 victory on Sunday.
Anthony, the former Gold Glove winner who is batting a shoddy .219 this season, played in all three weekend games. He went 2/11 overall in the series but did hit a home run on Saturday.

The younger Volpe also had an unfortunate moment in the series when he drilled Yankees teammate Aaron Judge in the face with a throw. Now it appears that the shortstop’s father had an unfortunate moment of his own when he lost his cool with a Mets fan heckler.
