Vin Scully hospitalized after fall but is ‘resting comfortably’

Vin Scully

Legendary Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully was hospitalized this week after falling at his home, but fortunately it sounds like he is doing well.

Scully fell at his home on Tuesday afternoon and was transported to a local hospital, according to TMZ. A Dodgers spokesperson said on Thursday that the 92-year-old is resting comfortably and expected to be released in the near future. Scully also issued a brief statement making light of the situation.

“I won’t be doing anymore head first sliding, I never liked it,” he joked.

Scully retired from broadcasting after the 2016 season. He spent 67 years calling games for the Dodgers, dating back to when the franchise was located in Brooklyn. There have been efforts to lure him back into the broadcast booth since, but Scully has turned them down. He remains in good health by all accounts, and it’s a relief to hear Tuesday’s fall sounds like it will wind up being nothing more than a scare.
