Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was on the fast track to being promoted to Triple-A before he suffered a knee injury last month that has kept him out for several weeks, but the setback has apparently not altered the organization’s plans for him.
Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports that the Toronto Blue Jays are planning to promote Guerrero from the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons when he is cleared to return from his injury. As Longley notes, Guerrero was mere “days” away from being promoted before he went down with a strained patella tendon, and his rehab has gone extremely well.
It is only a matter of time before Guerrero, the son of soon-to-be Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero, makes his way to the majors. The 19-year-old was absolutely destroying the ball in Double-A and hitting over .400 prior to his injury. When you see how far some of the home runs he has hit this year have gone, you get an idea of the type of potential the younger Guerrero.
