The Washington Nationals were so pumped for the return of Bryce Harper to their park that they broke out the troll game hard on Twitter.
Harper returned on Tuesday to face his former team for the first time since signing with the Philadelphia Phillies as a free agent. Though the Nationals mostly made non-competitive offers and were fine with watching him go, and though Harper electrified the Nats, the fans still made sure to boo the former MVP.

The Nationals took particular delight in watching Harper strike out in his first two at-bats against former teammate Max Scherzer. Check out their tweets after each of his Ks.

Harper did come through with a double in his third at-bat against Scherzer, but he was stranded on base. By the time he had doubled, the Nats had already had their fun with him on Twitter.
Most of the boos will probably go away after enough time passes, but Harper will be disliked by Nats fans for a long time since he’ll be helping the Phillies beat them within the division over the next decade.
