Watch: Madison Bumgarner receives ovation in return to Giants
Madison Bumgarner received a warm reception at AT&T Park in his return to the San Francisco Giants’ rotation.
Bumgarner was placed on the 60-day disabled list after suffering a fractured left pinky during spring training. On Tuesday, Bumgarner made his season debut and received an ovation as he walked out to the pitcher’s mound prior to the first inning.

Last week, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Bumgarner’s rehab process could be accelerated after a strong outing. There was speculation Bumgarner could start on Friday. While that did not happen, fans didn’t have wait much longer to see their four-time All-Star.
The Giants have managed to stay afloat without their ace and went into Tuesday’s game just 1.5 games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West.
