Willie Mays had a message for Baseball Hall of Fame voters on Saturday.
The San Francisco Giants retired Barry Bonds’ uniform No. 25 during a special pregame ceremony. Among those to speak was franchise legend Willie Mays. Prior to walking away from the microphone, Mays urged Hall of Fame voters to vote for Bonds.

Bonds received 56.4 percent of votes in 2018, which was his sixth year on the ballot. Last year he received 53.8 percent. In 2016, Bonds appeared on 44.3 percent of the ballots. A candidate must receive 75 percent of the votes to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The Baseball Writers’ Association of America reduced the number of years a player will be eligible to be on the ballot from 15 years to 10, meaning Bonds has four years left to reach the required threshold.
