The Chicago White Sox appear to be done keeping score.

Chicago suffered the 117th loss of their miserable 2024 season against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday. It at least took the White Sox 13 innings to fall, courtesy of a walkoff single by Angels outfielder Jordyn Adams.

The White Sox went viral after the game for their hilariously sad post to X.

“FINAL: the other team scored more runs than us,” they wrote.

That type of post is usually only reserved for blowouts, but the White Sox decided to bust it out after a hard-fought 4-3 loss. Clearly even Chicago’s social media department wants to rage-quit on the season at this point.

It is tough to blame them though since the White Sox are now a comical 36-117 (.235) on the year. That is now tied with the 1916 Philadelphia Athletics (who were also 36-117) for the worst winning percentage in the modern era. The White Sox are also closing in on the 2003 Detroit Tigers, who currently hold the all-time mark for worst record in a 162-game MLB season (43-119).

With only nine games left to play, everyone in Chicago clearly wants this wretched season to finally come to a merciful end. That said though, it might not get much better in 2025 either based on some comments that the White Sox GM recently made.
