Yankees take out classy ad congratulating David Wright on career
David Wright may be set to play the final game of his career for New York’s other baseball team this weekend, but the more popular team in The Big Apple appreciates what he has done on the diamond.
On Friday, the New York Post ran a special section dedicated to Wright. The Yankees took out a full page ad in the paper congratulating Wright on his retirement.

Wright, who first came to the big leagues with the Mets in 2004, made seven All-Star teams in an eight-year span and finished top-10 in MVP voting four times. His career was derailed by a chronic condition called spinal stenosis, and he has only played in 75 games since 2015 because of it. Wright’s career was on a Hall of Fame track prior to the injury struggles.
The Yankees aren’t the first ones to issue a classy tribute to Wright, and that speaks to the level of respect he has across baseball.
