Yankees’ Dellin Betances dealing with strange finger injury
Dellin Betances’ first outing in the month of August sounded a little painful.
The New York Yankees reliever had to be checked out by trainers during Sunday’s game against the Boston Red Sox with an apparent finger injury. Meredith Marakovits of YES Network revealed the strange circumstances of the injury — Betances cut the finger with his nail a couple of appearances ago.
Trainers looking at Dellin Betances’ finger. He told me he cut that ring finger with his nail a couple of outings ago. Said he was fine at the time but could have aggravated it #yankees

Betances, who entered play Sunday with a 2.40 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 44 games, did manage to complete his outing. After hitting the first batter he faced with a pitch, he sent down the next three straight, striking out two.
Hopefully though, Betances won’t have to change up his repertoire as we recently saw with another reliever who had a similar injury.
