Yankees fans frustrated with Sonny Gray quote after loss
Sonny Gray has largely been a disappointment for the New York Yankees since he was acquired in a trade last season, and his latest poor outing contributed to the team falling even further behind in the AL East on Tuesday. Fans are not only growing frustrated with the way Gray has pitched, but also what he is saying about it.
After he allowed two earned runs over just three innings in a 10-5 loss to the Minnesota Twins, Gray expressed optimism that the Yankees will be “fine.”
Sonny Gray on the loss: "We lost one game. We're fine. I feel like everyone is in good spirits and we'll come out tomorrow and get behind Sevy and try to win a series here."

From a pitcher whose ERA has hovered around 5.00 all season, Yankees fans don’t want to hear it. That was evident with some of their responses on Twitter.
That’s exactly what losers say

The ramblings of a player that’s in total denial. I sincerely hope the rest of the team isn’t taking this as lightly.

It would take a total meltdown for the Yankees to miss the playoffs, but they are slowly losing their grip on having home field in the one-game wild card playoff. With Tuesday’s loss, they are now just two games ahead of the Oakland A’s for the top wild card spot.
Gray was quite hard on himself after a blowout loss to the Boston Red Sox earlier this season, and Yankees fans must want to hear more of that from him. There’s always a risk that players from small-market teams won’t be able to handle the high demands of pitching in New York, and so far it appears like Gray could be one of those players.
