The New York Yankees are reportedly willing to pay up to ensure Dwight Gooden gets the help he needs.
The team, Gooden’s former drug counselor Ron Dock, and Gooden’s former teammate Darryl Strawberry all confirmed the offer, according to John Harper, Joseph Stepansky, and Stephen Rex Brown of the New York Daily News.
“The Yankees saw the story and they called me and said, ‘What can we do to help?'” Strawberry said Tuesday. “A lot of individuals have reached out to me, too, but for the Yankees to show that type of support to Doc, I’m very grateful to them for that.”

“They said they’re willing to pay for Dwight’s treatment, which is a huge gesture on their behalf,” Dock said. “They’ve always tried to do right by (Gooden), going back to George Steinbrenner when he gave him a chance to play again.”
It’s a heck of a gesture by the Yankees, who should be applauded for it. Gooden maintains that he feels great and doesn’t have any issues, and is not pleased with Strawberry calling him out publicly. Many friends of Gooden, however, tell a very different story.
